Eric Cardinale is a veterinarian and epidemiologist; he currently serves as Scientific Director for Animal Health and Welfare at ANSES (the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety). With over thirty years of international experience, he has dedicated his career to the “One Health” approach, which aims to establish links between animal health, environmental factors, and human safety. As Inspector General of Veterinary Public Health, his work has ranged from managing the surveillance of infectious diseases in the Indian Ocean and Africa to advising the European Commission on public health emergencies. Whether coordinating inter-institutional OH working groups or conducting research on emerging zoonoses and drivers of antimicrobial resistance, he has consistently championed interdisciplinary research while ensuring that scientific discoveries translate into concrete actions that directly improve people’s lives and safety.
